Job Details
- Position: Pediatric BMT Registered Nurse
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (days) or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (nights)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Schedule:
- 50/50 rotation of 7 days on day shift / 7 days on night shift
- 9 days on / 9 nights off rotation
- Will accept straight nights or days if working every weekend
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend
- No on-call required
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 2 years of Bone Marrow Transplant experience, including experience within the last year
- Competency with PICC, PAC, and CVL lines
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Massachusetts
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (required for pediatric units)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (required if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred if working in NICU
- Chemotherapy certification required for Oncology units
- State license verification must be completed within 30 days of start date
- Professional certification verification required within 30 days prior to start
Required Competencies
- Pediatric medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Unit-specific competency exam
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Background checks must be initiated within 24 hours of booking and updated annually for direct candidates
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last 3 places of employment
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccinations or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (series and/or declination or positive titer)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap after age 11 acceptable)
- Negative TB test (T-Spot or QuantiFERON blood test within 90 days or 2-step skin test)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (8/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 initial vaccine series or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses)
- Respiratory safety clearance required for all travelers; facility-specific fit testing done onsite
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Proof of name change if applicable (for any documents under different names)
- Completion of onboarding packet prior to start
- Data collection form with personal and citizenship information within 72 hours of booking
- Flu and COVID Smartsheet forms submission required if vaccinated outside the facility
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training required for behavioral health roles (not applicable here)
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to work every third weekend and follow the specified shift rotation.
- Prior travel experience is not accepted for this position; only nurses with relevant pediatric BMT experience are considered.
- All documentation and verifications must be current and compliant with Massachusetts state and facility requirements.
