Infusion Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - West Islip, NY

Position Overview

• Job Title: Infusion Registered Nurse
• Location: West Islip, New York
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Monday to Friday, Day shift (4x10 hours, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM), no weekends
• Hours per Week: 40 hours

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of infusion nursing experience, including infusion experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only, required for all RN positions
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - required for ER RN positions; confirm if required for this specialty
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with minimum score of 80%
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke) may be required depending on unit; confirm as needed

Background & Documentation Requirements

• 7-year background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • County Search
  • National Sex Offender Registry (updated per new requirements)
  • National Criminal Background
  • FACIS Level 3
  • OFAC, OMIG (NY Medicaid exclusions), OIG, SAM
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification via diploma or transcript acceptable
• New York State Medicaid Exclusion List check updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

• Facility-specific physical exam form completed by a physician within 30 days prior to start (must include required sections and signatures)
• Fit test for N95 mask (Halyard Fluidshield or 3M 1860) within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSpot, or PPD) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray and questionnaire required
• Immunizations or positive IgG titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
• Hepatitis B antibody and antigen results required; proof of vaccine series alone is insufficient
• Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 - April 30 (declinations allowed for religious or medical reasons)
• COVID vaccine series preferred
• Standard 9-panel drug screen required within 30 days prior to start; rapid drug tests not accepted

Employment History & References

• 7 years of employment history with explanations for any gaps
• At least 1 year of experience in the specialty or comparable/higher acuity area
• Two clinical references required, must be supervisor level or above (Charge RNs acceptable)
• Current and valid contact information required on application
