Job Opportunity: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Registered Nurse

Position Overview
- Unit: Mother-Baby Unit (Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Facility Type: Level I Trauma, Teaching Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Short-term acute care
- Patient Diagnoses: Antepartum, Postpartum, Gynecology
- Float: May float within scope to Women's Special Care or med/surg patients if not comfortable with antepartum care
- Weekend Requirement: 3-4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling; block scheduling not guaranteed
- Locals: No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
- COVID Vaccine: Optional; facility reports vaccination status
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico (pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of Post Partum nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross (RQI not accepted)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid non-local driver’s license (identification cards not accepted)
- Social Security Card (copy may be requested)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year prior to start
- Drug Screen: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round with exemptions allowed for personal reasons
- TB Testing: Negative Qgold, Tspot, or PPD within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
- Fit Mask: Required within 1 year of start; only specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodation available if needed
- Orientation & Training:
- Cerner Training Attestation required (test-out option available)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Medication and Competency Exams (including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency) required
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required for certain units (not required for Mother-Baby Unit)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification may be required depending on unit assignment
Work History & References
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable work history required
- Two professional references within three years of hire
- Complete employment application including at least 3 years of work history
Additional Information
- No on-call requirement
- Guaranteed contracted hours with allowance for up to 3 call-offs during 13-week assignment
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of continuous travel work at this facility
