Registered Nurse – Operating Room
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work 5 shifts per week, 8 hours each (day shifts)
- Shift times: 6:15 AM – 2:45 PM or 10:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Rotating late stays twice per week
- Mandatory work at two campuses, with one as the primary location
- No local candidates accepted
- Prior travel experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Copy of valid photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal background check (updated if no assignment in last 90 days)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by a physician
- Annual respirator fit testing (fit mask with size)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with appropriate follow-up documentation if applicable
- TB questionnaire annually in lieu of TB test renewal
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP, tricyclic antidepressants)
- Two professional references required
Additional Notes
- Influenza and COVID-19 vaccination exemptions allowed for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation
- Facility-specific orientation and competency exams required, including medication/pharmacology competency
- Candidates must sign confidentiality and system access agreements prior to start
- Completion of assigned Healthstream courses during orientation is mandatory; failure to complete may restrict certain clinical tasks (e.g., glucose testing)
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs seeking a contract in an operating room setting with rotating shifts and multiple campus responsibilities.
