Medical Lab Technician (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Shift: Evening (5 shifts per week, 8 hours each, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Seeking Medical Technologists (MTs) or Medical Lab Technicians (MLTs) with blood bank experience.
• Previous blood bank experience is required, preferably in a high-paced trauma environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience, with experience within the last year.
• Previous blood bank experience.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good physical health.
• Fit mask testing (N95 acceptable) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually. For positive results, additional documentation required.
• Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Tdap vaccine required only for specific departments (not applicable here).
• Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only, renewal required if expiring within 30 days of start.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and other specialty certifications are not required for this role.
• National certification verification required within 30 days of start; renewal must be completed prior to start if expiring within 30 days.

• Photo for badge: full color, passport-style, taken within last 6 months, plain background, no filters or obstructions.
• Candidates may need to complete facility-specific forms for onsite fit testing authorization if applicable.
• Background checks and license verifications with any hits require facility approval.
• No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
