Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)
Job Description
- Perform Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) ultrasound scans, including OB/GYN scans (no breast experience required).
- Patient load: up to 8 patients per day (4 in the morning, 4 in the afternoon). Twin pregnancies count as two scans.
- Facility is a large Level 1 trauma center with 579 beds and 2 sites on campus.
- Weekend work is as needed.
- Must work 2 out of 4 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
- No block scheduling allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience within the last year.
- Experience working in a large teaching hospital.
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Certifications & Licenses
- ARDMS OB/GYN credential (as above).
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications as required by the unit/job (must be AHA certified; RQI with only recommended renewal dates not accepted).
- State license verification and primary source verification within 30 days of start.
Orientation & Scheduling
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays; next available orientation date provided prior to start.
- Monday through Sunday availability required.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days.
- Complete and detailed work history required, including bed count, EMR, and facility type.
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation.
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually (3M Aura 1870+ is the only acceptable mask for Labor & Delivery).
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented exemption for:
- Tdap (within 10 years or titer)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination or declination
- Pneumonia vaccine or declination if assigned to New York facility
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months; chest X-ray if positive TB test.
- Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB history.
Background & Compliance Checks
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually.
- Education verification based on highest degree relevant to the job.
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required for Vermont assignments.
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check required for Vermont assignments.
- New York State criminal background check fingerprint results required for non-licensed LTC personnel in NY.
Documentation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo with plain light background required for badge (no logos, hats, sunglasses, or filters).
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approximately 8 hours, non-billable).
- Completion of various facility-specific forms including emergency contact, dress code review, telephone usage policy, and auto registration form (time sensitive).
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work, including mask wearing and social distancing requirements.
- NameTag verification setup required.
- Candidate must complete employment application, skills checklist (within 12 months), and provide 2 professional references from assignments within the last 3 years.
- Drug testing required only for New York facilities prior to start.
