Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Job Description

• Work in the Emergency Department (ED) of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility.
• The ED experiences a high volume of patients; patient ratios may stretch to 1:5 or higher during surge periods.
• Must be willing to float to other units as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Harassment Prevention Training.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID.
• Background checks including 7-year work/school history and sex offender registry.
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination.
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific).
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ER staff).
• Color blindness testing prior to start.
• Completion of facility-specific online learning modules before first shift.
• Signed facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment.
• Emergency contact form.
