Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the Emergency Department (ED) of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility.
- The ED experiences a high volume of patients; patient ratios may stretch to 1:5 or higher during surge periods.
- Must be willing to float to other units as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Harassment Prevention Training.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID.
- Background checks including 7-year work/school history and sex offender registry.
- Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season.
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination.
- 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for ER staff).
- Color blindness testing prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules before first shift.
- Signed facility-specific job description and welcome packet acknowledgment.
- Emergency contact form.
