MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 18:30 - 07:00 (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday)
- Hours per week: 36 hours (3 shifts x 12 hours)
- Call Requirement: None
- Float Requirement: Yes, may float to Orthopedics and other medical centers as needed
- Orientation:
- Unit orientation from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Hospital orientation during the first week; full availability required for classes
- Start date subject to change based on class and trainer availability; missing any orientation portion may delay or cancel start
- Scrubs: Royal blue required
- Patient Population: Adolescent, adults, geriatrics (preferred familiarity with neonates, infants, pediatrics)
- Equipment: GE and Siemens MRI machines
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Scheduling: Per unit needs
- Disaster Response: Contract staff may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and required to report during catastrophic events
Required Qualifications
- Valid MRI Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of MRI Technologist experience
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months for clinical candidates
- Drug testing (9-panel) within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation if past positive TB
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Oct 31)
- Physical exam and references per travel agency standards (not required by client)
- Radiation badge required for MRI techs; agency will coordinate issuance
- Photo for badge: passport-style photo on white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses
Orientation and Training Requirements
- Completion of hospital and unit orientation mandatory
- Medication Safety training certificate required for clinical candidates who handle or administer medications
- Competency exams including color blindness test and other role-specific assessments may be required
- Annual compliance and facility-specific education modules must be completed
- Confidentiality agreement and other facility policies must be reviewed and signed
Additional Notes
- Start date confirmation occurs the Tuesday prior to the start week
- No return-to-office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation
- Must be fully available during orientation week with no other commitments
- Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract based on unit needs
This position is ideal for experienced MRI technologists with prior travel contract experience who are flexible with scheduling and able to work night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
