Job Opportunity: Dialysis Nurse (Registered Nurse)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Every other weekend, plus 3 call shifts every 6-week schedule
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Dialysis
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2+ years of acute/inpatient dialysis experience
  • Required Experience: Fresenius T machine experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Candidates can submit application with license pending

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of dialysis nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC) may be required based on unit assignment
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Pass/Fail Cardiac Rhythm Assessment may be required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declinations allowed)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer positive or appropriate follow-up testing
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions or declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually

Background & Screening

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (official transcript preferred; photocopy of diploma not accepted)
  • Employment references and clinical references required
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check required for certain units (behavioral health or specific floors)

Additional Information

  • Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed
  • Various facility-specific forms and compliance documents must be completed prior to start
