Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Job Description

• Float between Med/Surg Telemetry and Med/Surg units as needed
• No call required
• Work schedule includes a minimum of every other weekend or adjusted schedule to meet unit and patient care needs
• Must work 2 out of 4 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
• Monday to Sunday shifts, no block schedules

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Telemetry nursing experience
• One completed travel nursing assignment
• Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Additional Requirements

• Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
• All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
• Complete and detailed work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required
• Must work with all-season or snow tires November through April

Compliance and Documentation

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification as applicable
• Primary source verification of Vermont RN license within 30 days of start and upon expiration
• Nursys verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Color blindness testing required
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• N95 Fit Test prior to assignment start and updated annually
• Required vaccinations or documentation:

  • Tdap within 10 years or titer
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or exemption (medical/religious) required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination
  • Pneumonia vaccine or declination if assigned to NY facility
• Drug testing as required (not required for VT facilities)
• Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
• Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required
• Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check required for Vermont assignments
• Various facility-specific policies and forms must be reviewed and completed prior to start (dress code, telephone usage, emergency contact, etc.)

References and History

• Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
• Employment application required
• Skills checklist within 12 months
• Verification of 2 years of most recent clinical work history

Notes

• Orientation offered bi-weekly on Mondays
• No block schedules allowed
• Must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start date
• Reliable transportation is essential due to limited public transit options

This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable working in a teaching hospital environment and have recent Epic EMR proficiency.
