Job Opportunity: MICU Registered Nurse
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Yes
- On-call: No
- Floating: Required to float within scope to like units/sister facilities as needed (agency staff float first)
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Annual background check including:

- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- International searches if applicable
- Employment verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified (not required at this facility)
- Physical exam: Initial and annual updates required, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days; if positive, chest X-ray required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Flu vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- Respirator clearance: Annual medical clearance required for all patient-facing staff
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Mandatory completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Signed agreements and acknowledgments required before start:
- Assignment Acknowledgment
- Code of Conduct
- Employee Confidentiality Agreement
- Systems User Agreement
- HIPAA Confidentiality Agreement
- Facility uses a platform called "OurDay" for uploading vaccination and flu documentation
- Local candidates within 60 miles are not accepted

- Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed

- Radiation badge not required for MICU nurses
- Candidates must have completed at least one prior travel contract (no first-time travelers)
