Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist - School

Location: Rockville, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)


Job Description

  • Full-time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) contractor position providing approximately 20 IEP hours per week, including 10-15 hours of direct therapy.
  • Services delivered in a mix of group and individual sessions, at the provider’s discretion.
  • Caseload includes students aged approximately 10-20 years on certificate and diploma track programs.
  • Client population primarily includes students diagnosed with Autism, comorbidities, and some social emotional/psychological diagnoses.
  • Some students use speech generating devices, but most are verbal.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Maryland license for Speech Language Pathology.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required.
  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • Federal background check including all aliases.
  • Required state and federal exclusion and sanction list checks.
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, buprenorphine, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, methadone, opioids, oxycodone, phencyclidine).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA provider card only).
  • Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test (QGOLD or TSPOT preferred) within 1 year of start.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (October - April).
  • COVID-19 vaccination proof or declination form required.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required for subcontractors).
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year of start; can be completed onsite during orientation if needed.
  • Education verification for highest degree obtained.
  • Completion of required competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable.
  • Completion of mandatory reporter training.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation, policies, confidentiality, and safety acknowledgements prior to start.
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Fingerprinting via Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI LiveScan required at least 10 days prior to start date; fingerprint receipt required for clearance.
  • Candidates must complete and notarize Child Protective Services (CPS) background clearance forms.
  • Photo for badge with clear headshot on white background required.
  • Completion of annual TB questionnaire regardless of TB test results.
  • Candidates must complete a criminal background disclosure, informed consent, privacy act statement, and confidentiality agreement prior to start.
  • Candidates must complete a COVID-19 questionnaire via the facility portal and upload confirmation.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training will be conducted onsite; not applicable for school employees.
  • Educational services candidates must sign FERPA annually (not required for subcontractors unless specified).
  • State teaching certificates or credentials may be required depending on the role; confirm with client if applicable.

Caseload & Environment

  • Work with school-aged students in a specialized educational setting.
  • Mix of individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Focus on students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related diagnoses.
  • Support students on both certificate and diploma tracks.
