Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide care for admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department awaiting inpatient bed placement.
- Requires experience in ER boarding and Intermediate Care/Stepdown units.
- Float and every other weekend shifts required.
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week).
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
Additional Requirements
- Valid RN license for District of Columbia.
- Ability to float to other units as needed.
- Must work every other weekend.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least two years of experience within the last three years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information.
- Criminal background check and drug screening required prior to start.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Night shifts (1900-0730) for 3 shifts per week.
- Work involves caring for patients in a fast-paced emergency/stepdown setting.
- Floating to other units as needed.
- Every other weekend required.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with emergency and stepdown care skills who have prior travel nursing experience and are comfortable working night shifts with floating responsibilities.
