MRI Technologist – Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Job Summary

• Verify patient identification and document pregnancy status for patients of childbearing age.
• Obtain patient history and assist patients and family members requiring extra attention.
• Ensure patient safety and understanding throughout procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of MRI technology and cross-sectional human anatomy.
• Operate MRI scanners competently, including automatic injections of MRI contrast.
• Maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment and protocols.
• Administer oral and intravenous contrast according to protocols, including establishing IV lines and checking lab values before contrast injection.
• Manage image transfer and verification using PACS, QC stations, and related systems.
• Ensure accuracy of charge information and patient demographic data on images.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work environment and document incidents for quality improvement.
• Precept new employees and students.
• Review patient charts and reports for diagnostic correlation.
• Manage workflow and scheduling to ensure consistent operations.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences (ARRT) or registry eligible.
• For registry eligible candidates: must provide diploma from an accredited program.
• Must obtain advanced certification in MR within one year of employment.
• Maintain ARRT registry status and complete continuing education annually.
• Maintain current competency in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (HCP BLS).

Experience

• Prior education, training, and experience sufficient to perform assigned MRI technologist tasks.
• No specific years of experience stated beyond educational and certification requirements.

Schedule & Hours

• Shift: Days
• Hours per day: 10
• Hours per week: 40
• Typical schedule includes Thursday and Friday 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks
