Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab

Job Summary

Provide specialized nursing care to pediatric congenital heart patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. Deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout all phases of care in a fast-paced procedural environment. Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, technologists, and multidisciplinary team members to support high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Review patient information, allergies, medications, and consent forms prior to procedures.
• Ensure catheterization procedure rooms are fully prepared with all medications, equipment, and emergency supplies.
• Coordinate with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia, and other team members.
• Assist physicians during diagnostic, interventional, biopsy, and electrophysiology procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique; perform circulating and scrubbing roles.
• Operate point-of-care testing equipment and administer contrast agents.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations promptly.
• Care for critically ill neonates through adolescents, with preferred knowledge of congenital heart disease and advanced assessment skills.

Schedule & Shift Details

• Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• Call required after 1 week of orientation: approximately 12-15 call days per 6-week schedule, including 2 weekends
• Weekday call hours: 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend call hours: 7:00 AM Saturday – 7:00 AM Monday (24-hour call)
• Two weekends of 24-hour call required per 6-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania State Board approved RN license
• BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required
• Preferred experience with congenital heart disease and pediatric critical care
