Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• 2+ years of ICU experience
• Experience with ventilators
• Experience with drip management
• Experience with DKA management

Preferred Qualifications

• CRRT training
• IABP training

Unit Details

• 16 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1 most of the time
• Charge nurse is free
• RT is on unit 24 hours a day
• Nurses are only required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• Self-scheduling is available
• Floating is required
• Orientation is 2 shifts
• Weekend requirement: 6 shifts in 6 weeks
• Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor for spring and fall
• No call or standby requirement
• Scrub color: Royal blue

Patient Population

• CHF
• DKA
• Respiratory failure
• Metabolic acidosis
• Renal failure
• Encephalopathy

Drips / Monitoring

• All cardiac drips
• Insulin
• Sedation meds
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• ICU nurses monitor the central monitors at each nurse’s station
