Registered Nurse (Med/Tele - K3)

Location: Lufkin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Population

• 18-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Patient diagnoses commonly include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia (PNA), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and medical/surgical telemetry patients
• Patients may require CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen support
• Telemetry monitor technicians monitor patients, but RNs must be able to read cardiac strips

Staffing & Ratios

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 6:1
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present with a ratio of 12:1
• Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Nurse Educators are available on the unit

Scheduling & Requirements

• 12-hour night shifts; scheduling managed by leadership with no guarantee of block scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday shifts required
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to all Med/Surg units

Orientation & Dress Code

• Department-specific orientation provided in the Kurth Tower (all Med/Surg Telemetry)
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Strong communication and time management skills

Additional Notes

• RNs are not required to titrate drips on this unit
• Ability to read telemetry strips is essential
