Facility & Unit Overview

• Acute care facility with 143 beds
• Unit: 4th Floor Surgical
• Number of Beds on Unit: 18
• Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric (No pediatrics unless over Broselow chart)
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Equipment used: Wound vacs, Chest tubes, Bipaps
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Meditech

Position Details

• Specialty: Post Surgery / Med Surg
• Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: 24
• Call Requirements: No call
• Float Requirements: Must float to any med/surg area within scope
• Number of Openings: 1

Required Qualifications

• Specialty Experience: 1-2 years in Med/Surg (Use 2 years as the requirement)
• Certifications: BLS required prior to start
• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Skills/Experience:

  • IV and NG insertion
  • Critical thinking
  • Open communication

Common Diagnoses/Treatments

• Joint replacements
• Colon resections
• Mastectomy
• Amputations
• Nissen fundoplication
• General surgery
