Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

- Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Unit: Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Unit Location: 3rd Floor, Main Hospital Building
- Number of Beds: 17
- Patient Ratio: 4:1
- Staff on Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, 2 CNAs
- Guarantee Hours: 36 hours/week
- EMR System: Epic
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Registered Nurse License (must be in hand at time of submission)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Certification
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in the specialty
- Preferred experience in cardiac and neuro care
- Experience with post-surgical care, NIH/stroke care, and teamwork adaptability is important
Skills and Procedures
- Required skills:
- IV insertion/phlebotomy
- NGT (nasogastric tube) care
- Tracheostomy care
- CPAP management
- High flow oxygen therapy
- Management of non-titratable drips (except heparin)
- Post-surgical patient care
- NIH/stroke care protocols
- Typical procedures:
- Q4 full assessments and vital signs
- Ambulation of post-surgical patients
- CIWA protocols
- Labs and cardiac monitoring
- Electrolyte replacements
Work Environment and Expectations
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Floating Areas: Ortho, Medical-Surgical, Medical-Oncology, MOU, Rehab, CVSU
- Weekends: 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
- Holidays: 3 major holidays per year required
- Must be adaptable, quick, efficient, and maintain a positive attitude
