Job Summary: Radiology / Cardiology Position in Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Per Diem
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification and California license
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Skills and Procedures
- Hospital setting experience
- PET Scan (including 3 Phase, Limited, Whole Body)
- Brain Scan, Cerebral Blood Flow
- Liver Flow, Liver Imaging, Liver Scan-Hemangioma
- Lung Scan, DTPA Aerosol
- Perfusion and Ventilation/Perfusion scans
- Renal Flow, Captopril, Flow/Function, Renal/Perfusion, Three Phase with Lasix
- Cancer Survey, I-123 Uptake Scan, Uptake Scan
- Tumor Localization (Limited, Whole Body)
- SPECT (Single-Photon Emission CT) for Bone, Brain, Liver, Renal
- Sestamibi Parathyroid Scan
- Myocardial scans including Adenosine infusion, Exercise/Rest (Multiple and Single), Persantine Infusion, Pharmacological Stress
- ER / Contrast / Phlebotomy skills
Orientation
- No orientation provided; candidates must be comfortable working at any assigned facility without prior training.
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI certification required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI certification required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society
- State License: California professional license required (CPDH certificate for Respiratory Therapists)
- Tech Certification Verification: As applicable per Allied Licensure Report
- Other Certifications: May include NIH Stroke Certification, CPI/MAB (preferred for Psych/Behavioral Health RNs), IV Certification (if applicable)
Note: Chemotherapy certification is not required for Per Diem positions.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- E-Verify attestation required
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)
- Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem)
Documentation and Training
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in relevant specialty (6 months for CNAs)
- Skills checklists as applicable, updated annually
- Completion of Providence Health and Services Core and Specialty WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Core Modules (~6.5 hours)
- Specialty-specific modules based on profession and region
- Epic training modules (Per Diem candidates must complete Epic modules after access is granted)
- Badge photo (passport style with neutral background) required for badge issuance
- Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable working at multiple facilities without orientation.
- Providence does not approve background check hits for Per Diem candidates except for certain Allied professions.
- License hits for Per Diem RNs and LVNs are automatic cancellations.
- Some state-specific background checks and attestations apply, especially for Washington and Oregon placements.
- Radiation badges are issued by the facility as needed.
