Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Start Date: ASAP
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend plus every other holiday
On-Call Requirement: Yes, 3 on-call shifts per 6-week scheduling period
Floating: Must be able to float within scope to ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units
Block Scheduling: Not allowed

Job Description
- Provide respiratory care in adult critical care, emergency room, and community hospital settings.
- Responsibilities include airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments.
- Night shift duties require administering aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies.
- Preferred experience in NICU, ED, adult ICU, and level 2 trauma care.
- Attendance at monthly department meetings is required; if unable to attend, must review meeting minutes and acknowledge understanding.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Proficient in arterial blood gas (ABG) draw and analysis
- Skilled in pulmonary toileting
- Experienced in BiPAP implementation and management
- Experienced in CPAP implementation and management
- Knowledgeable in bronchial hygiene therapy
- Competent in lung inflation therapy

- Short-term acute care hospital with Level II Trauma Center designation.
- Total staffed beds: 431.
- Electronic health record system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Wine.

Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Mandatory background checks including lifetime criminal, education verification, and federal/state registries.
- Drug screening required within 30 days prior to start.
- Physical exam required within 1 year prior to start.
- Fit mask (N95) testing required and must be current.
- Immunization and health document requirements include:
- TB test or chest X-ray as applicable.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption.
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation or declination.
- Completion of facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, orientation packet, and Epic experience screening form.
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required.
- References: Two professional references required, including one from current year and one within last two years, from supervisors or equivalent.

- Candidates must be willing to work mandatory on-call shifts.
- Floating to ER and Adult ICU Stepdown units is required.
- No block scheduling accommodations.
