Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), Tuesday to Friday
Schedule Details: Every other weekend and every other holiday; no on-call required
Facility & Work Environment
- Level II trauma hospital
- Large, 1,059-bed magnet facility
- Experience with OR, Fluoroscopy, Portables, Level II Trauma, Endoscopy, Inpatient/Outpatient settings required
- Equipment includes Shimadzu with Konica and Fuji DR panel, GE OEC c-arm, Shimadzu and Siemens fluoroscopy equipment
- Use of EPIC EMR system
- Dress code: Charcoal grey scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Ohio
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification
- Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level II Trauma patients
- Experience in both Inpatient and Outpatient settings
- Strong Operating Room (OR) experience
- Experience as an X-Ray Technician
- Experience as an Endoscopy Technician
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Certifications & Licenses
- ARRT registration required
- Ohio Radiologic State License required
- BLS certification required
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit description (refer to employer standards)
- National certification verification required (ARRT for X-Ray Tech)
Experience
- 2+ years in radiology specialty
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 years prior to start, indicating clearance to work (MD, RN, DO, NP, or PA)
- Negative TB test (2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB) within 6 months of start
- Fit mask (respirator fit test) documentation within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested, no medical marijuana exemptions)
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by employer deadlines
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start
Background & Compliance
- 7-year background check completed within 1 year before start date, including:
- Social Security trace
- County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
- Nationwide criminal search
- Sex offender search
- OIG/SAM sanctions screening
- Fingerprinting required onsite or at approved locations prior to or on first day of orientation
- Must complete employer-specific candidate agreements, confidentiality, and acceptable use policies prior to start
- Driver’s license required to be carried at all times if driving is part of job duties (not applicable here)
Competency & Testing
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 2 years of start
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required within 7 days of signing and valid within 2 years
- Color blind testing: 100% pass required (2 attempts allowed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for this role
Additional Notes
- Large hospital experience preferred
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced trauma and surgical environment
- No call responsibilities
- Every other weekend and holiday coverage required

OR is mainly team based. Variety of shifts.
Cons
Have to take a shuttle to get to the hospital. So add 10 extra minutes to your commute since parking is far. Definitely had a bit of animosity in the OR against travelers.
