Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital (Travel/Contract)
Location: Irvine, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Provide physical therapy services in an oncology outpatient setting, treating patients with a variety of diagnoses.
- Pelvic floor therapy includes conditions such as stress urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, constipation, painful intercourse, pelvic pain, pre/post-op pelvic floor care, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, vaginal stenosis, low anterior resection, and pudendal neuralgia.
- General oncology PT cases include low back pain, frozen shoulder, neuropathy, general strengthening, and range of motion issues.
- Average patient load is approximately 7 visits per day.
- Documentation is completed using EPIC.
- Dress code: grey, Caribbean blue, or navy scrubs.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- CAPP-Pelvic or PRPC certification (Pelvic Floor specialty)
Preferred Certification:
- OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist)
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Physical Therapist license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with geriatric patients
- Experience in outpatient and clinic settings
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- CAPP-Pelvic or PRPC certification (Pelvic Floor specialty)
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, sports medicine, vestibular, and women’s health therapy.
- Experience with conditions such as ankle sprains, cervicalgia, degenerative disc and joint disease, elbow injuries/tendinopathy, extremity mobilization, frozen shoulder, gait training, hip and knee injuries, low back pain, myofascial release, osteoarthritis, post-op cervical/shoulder/spinal surgery, rheumatoid arthritis, sciatica, spinal conditions and mobilization, taping, total hip/knee replacement, upper extremity amputations.
- Experience with cognitive disorders including concussion, dementia/Alzheimer’s, nerve palsy, Parkinson’s disease, post-stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury.
- Modalities such as cryotherapy, electrical stimulation (E-stim), moist heat, TENS, ultrasound.
- Management or leadership experience.
- Medication knowledge relevant to patient care.
Orientation & Training
- 40+ hours of orientation required.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including Social Security trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification and diploma/transcripts required.
- Primary source verification of state license prior to start and upon expiration.
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable.
- Physical exam within last 12 months.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B series or positive titer or declination with proof of non-immune status.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or signed declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
- Drug screening: 10-panel oral drug screen within 1 year of start.
- Respirator questionnaire and RespSafety clearance annually for respirator use.
- Job description acknowledgement and other facility-specific forms required.
Additional Notes
- Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite; prior fit test within 12 months required for per diem clinicians.
- Candidate must comply with facility dress code and documentation standards.
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are welcome.
