Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Long Beach, CA

Job Details

• Location: Long Beach, California
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (10:00 AM - 10:30 PM)
• Schedule: Up to 2-4 call shifts and 1 weekend shift per 4-week period
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: ASAP
• Documentation System: EPIC

Unit & Clinical Requirements

• Must have robotics experience
• Experience required in the following surgical areas:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics and Orthopedic Joint
  • Neurosurgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat)
• Floating required to Miller Children’s and Cardiovascular units
• Weekend and on-call shifts required as scheduled

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience in a hospital setting, including OR experience within the last year
• Robotics experience in the Operating Room
• Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, and Ophthalmology
• One completed travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• N95 fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (no onsite fit testing provided)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within last 10 years (declination allowed)
  • Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low/equivocal titer)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (excluding marijuana panel due to CA state law)
• Seasonal flu vaccine required November 1 - April 30 (declination allowed with masking)
• COVID vaccination record preferred

Additional Requirements

• Must have 2 professional references
• Required to submit employment application and unit-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• Annual internal evaluation required if employed for 1 year or more
• Pre-approved time off must be requested at time of submission and approved by manager

Notes

• Local candidates within 50 miles may be considered at local rate (inform at submission)
• First-time travel nurses are not accepted for this assignment
• Facility policies on dress, hand hygiene, drug and alcohol free policy, discharge optimization, and care briefing must be reviewed prior to start (no documents to submit)

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with robotics experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in a hospital setting with a BSN and California RN license.
