Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating shifts: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (Day: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm / Night: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am). Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud; Healthstream not accepted)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid Driver's License.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs not provided for facial hair failure unless approved exemption submitted.
- Immunizations and titers required with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions must be approved):
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Mumps (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination with approved exemption)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray with clearance if past positive. Annual TB questionnaire if applicable.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions require agency approval).
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
Background and Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results received before contract extension. Facility fingerprinting also required.
- Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
- Two professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
Orientation and Testing
- Orientation includes medication administration and ECG interpretation exams with required passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%). Retakes and remediation provided if needed.
- Completion of facility onboarding modules is mandatory before clearance to start.
Additional Notes
- Candidates with a gap of less than 6 months since their last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
