Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Operating Room with 41 ORs, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional float shifts starting at 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and occasional night shifts (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
- Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed (approx. 3 on-call shifts per 8-week period)
- Float within scope to other Operating Rooms at the facility as needed
- Case types include General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, and Plastic surgery
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- No guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Time Off / Rebooking Restrictions
- Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days allowed
- RTO not allowed during these periods in 2026:
- June 28 - July 9
- September 2 - September 12
- October 25 - November 4
- Candidates who have completed a full year on assignment at this facility will not be rebooked for at least one year
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of legal name change if applicable
- Background Checks (within 60 days of start):
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list, and others
- Education Verification or acceptable transcript/diploma
- Health Documents (updated annually or as specified):
- Physical exam signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA (no Chiropractor)
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved masks)
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually
- Color Blindness exam (Ishihara test, no online testing accepted for new candidates)
- Certifications must be current or have a renewal plan if expiring within 90 days of start
- Competency exams and mandatory OSHA training updated annually with minimum passing scores
- References: Two references from the last two years required, including one from employment within the last year (from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above)
- Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
- Candidates with employment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet full requirements again
- Candidates must upload all required documents promptly to avoid clearance delays
