Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab) - Charleston, South Carolina
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
- Location: Charleston, South Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM)
- Start Date: Approximately 2-3 weeks from offer
Job Description
- Work in a Cath Lab with 5 Cath Lab rooms plus a Hybrid OR.
- Preferred case experience includes:
- Right and Left Heart Cath Diagnostic
- PCI, Complex PCI, CTO
- ASA, PFO/ASD, MitralClip, Watchman, PTMV, TAVR
- Peripheral and Vascular procedures
- Scrub experience preferred.
- On-call required: 1-2 nights per week, one weekend in a six-week period, holiday call possible.
- No block schedule accommodation.
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Prior travel experience is NOT required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a South Carolina RN license or a multi-state/compact license at the start of the contract.
- Certifications required:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA or ARC only)
- Radiation badge must be provided by the agency before starting.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS for pediatric units, TNCC for trauma units, etc.).
Call & Scheduling
- On-call: 1-2 nights per week, one weekend every six weeks, possible holiday call.
- No block schedule accommodation.
- Local radius rule: 60 miles.
Important Notes
- During hurricane season (June through November, peak in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams.
- Candidates unable to commit during hurricane season should avoid confirming assignments during this time.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9 form, E-Verify attestation).
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID.
- Social Security Card or SSN verification.
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Education verification (diploma or transcripts as placeholder if needed).
- South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search.
- NURSYS verification for licensure.
- Proof of 2 clinical references.
- Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps.
- Radiation badge required before starting (may take 5-7 days to process).
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if positive history.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination/booster documentation.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption.
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start.
Additional Competencies
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam.
- Color blindness testing prior to start.
- Competency exam for assigned unit.
- Other certifications as applicable (e.g., NIH Stroke, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM).
