Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm - 7am)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
- AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required; must be willing to obtain NIHSS certification prior to start
- One recent reference required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, director, or Charge RN in the specialty
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication competency test must be passed during orientation
- Must carry a government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) while on assignment
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check required prior to start, including a 7-year FCRA-compliant search
- Background checks must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending but must complete fingerprinting before extension
Certifications
- Required:
- ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)
- Preferred/As Applicable:
- PALS (for PICU, Pediatric Stepdown, Pediatric OR)
- NRP (for L&D, OB/GYN, NICU)
- TNCC (preferred for ER)
- Certifications expiring within 30 days of start must be renewed prior to start
- Annual acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Testing required
- Pass/Fail ECG and medication testing completed onsite during orientation
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or QGold/TSPOT) or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination documentation required
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster required if titers negative/equivocal
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
Documentation & Onboarding
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar specialty
- Two references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director
- Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exam required
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for orientation testing
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start
- Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month break may have some onboarding requirements waived

- Candidates must be prepared for testing and competency evaluations during orientation
- Facility requires strict adherence to all listed requirements; no exceptions
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment
- Fingerprinting and background checks are critical and must be maintained current throughout assignment
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a night shift travel contract with a reputable healthcare system.
