LVN / LPN Travel/Contract Job in Rochester, New York

Position Details

Licenses and Certifications

• License: Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not Compact)
• Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) as per unit description.

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Acute Care experience within the last 2 years required
• Must be able to take own patient assignment with RN support
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers)

Clinical Skills Required

• Vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring, isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling
• Oxygen administration via nasal cannula, feeding tube management, telemetry monitoring, 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• IV therapy with pumps, blood glucose monitoring
• Wound care basics (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains), bathing and mouth care
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female), clean catch urine collection
• Communication of status changes to RN/MD
• Experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry care setting

Unit Details

• Patient population includes medical patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, and social issues
• Nurse-to-patient ratio during days: 1:5-6
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy blue and white

Compliance and Health Requirements

• Government issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly
• Education verification and transcript/diploma as applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References and employment verification required as per agency policy

Additional Notes

• Call-off policy allows client to cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without charges
• Special scheduling requests must be submitted upon application
• Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract
