Pediatric Transport Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required, no on-call required
Hours per Week: 36
Job Description
- Role supports ground transportation of pediatric and neonatal critical care patients within the Seattle area.
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists and advanced practice providers to transport infants and pediatric patients from surrounding hospitals, ERs, Labor & Delivery/NICU to a higher level of care.
- May float to cover bedside nursing in NICU, PICU, or pediatric units.
- Must have experience in ground transportation nursing.
- Charge nurse experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric experience, with pediatric experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in ground transportation nursing and transport experience
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) issued by American Heart Association
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 and state requirements)
- Background Check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and Health Screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Respiratory Safety Clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024
- WA State Patrol Search (WATCH) required within 90 days of start for Washington placements
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years of employment
Additional Requirements
- Float Policy Acknowledgement: May be required to float to other nearby facilities within the system.
- Photo for Badge: Not required for this specific facility.
- Annual Regulatory and Specialty-Specific Training Modules required via LMS (Workramp).
- Competency Exams and Medication/Pharmacology Competency as applicable.
- Skills Checklist updated annually for applicable units.
Notes
- Candidates from other facilities within the system (non-Swedish) are eligible for travel contracts if separated for at least 3 months.
- Active compact license holders are honored at all Swedish facilities.
- Background checks and other verifications have specific timelines and renewal requirements; returning candidates with minimal gaps may have some waivers.
- Physical exam and immunization requirements apply to onsite patient-facing roles.
