Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Med/Surg Telemetry experience for a travel/contract position. This role involves working 12-hour rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), with possible shift variability to meet operational needs. The nurse must be willing to work at least every other holiday.

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross).
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation.
• Must complete government-issued photo ID verification.
• Background checks including fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
• Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Annual flu vaccination (declinations not accepted without approved exemption)
• Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
• SafeMedicate and ECG competency exams are required during orientation with minimum passing scores (90% medication, 80% ECG).
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment may be exempt from some orientation requirements.

Work Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's).
• Rotating day/night shifts with possible variability based on hospital needs.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• Must be willing to work at least every other holiday.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1.5 years, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
