Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Psychiatric Services department provides direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process. Responsibilities include developing and updating individualized interdisciplinary care plans, evaluating patient outcomes, and identifying resources for patients. The unit serves patients aged 5 and older with psychiatric illnesses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, psychotic disorders, and those requiring detoxification. Some patients may also need medical care.
Requirements
Education & Licensure
- 2-Year Associate Degree in Nursing required
- Valid State of Maine RN license
- BLS Certification required
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training prior to start
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of previous experience in mental health nursing required
Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong team player
- Ability to manage stress and make decisions under pressure
- Flexibility to provide coverage 24/7
Additional Information
- Candidates with licensure conflicts will not be considered
- Previous employees of this facility are not accepted
- Local travelers will receive a lower local rate
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid
- The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract
- Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
