Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Evening shifts, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday (approx. 3:30 PM to midnight or 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday (3:30 PM to 1:00 AM)
- Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
- Start Date: ASAP
- Caseload: Variable, dependent on Emergency Room and portable inpatient volume
- Work Environment: Emergency Department and inpatient portable imaging for both pediatric and adult populations
- Equipment: Fuji Emergency Room equipment, Carestream portable units for ER and inpatient portable fleet
- Floating: Not required to float to sister facilities
- Block Schedule: Accommodation possible
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Active ARRT certification
- Demonstrated X-Ray Technician experience
- Ability to function independently in Emergency Department and portable imaging
- First-time travel technologists accepted
Certifications (Must be current)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or ARC
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA or ARC (if applicable)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, including SSN trace, national sex offender, federal and state checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (clean shaven required for fit testing)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (specific acceptable tests detailed)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor/delivery, postpartum (declination accepted)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccine series preferred
Facility & Training Requirements
- Epic charting system experience encouraged; optional Epic testing available for ER RNs
- Completion of facility-specific training modules and attestations including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training (for RNs)
- CAUTI Education Training (for RNs except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (for RNs except pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Training
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for X-ray Techs and other specified roles)
- ED Handbook (for ER RNs)
- eCart Training Module (for RNs except pediatric, periop/OR, outpatient, case managers, home health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must have photo ID matching legal name on first day
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
- Scrub color: Teal
- Parking cost approximately $125/month
