Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: Del Norte, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Swing position combining two Med-Surg inpatient floor shifts and one Emergency Department (ER) night shift per week
• Requires working in both Med-Surg and ER settings
• Average daily census: 17-18 patients
• Weekend work required every other weekend
• Call requirement: 2 call shifts per month (days or nights), must be within 1 hour distance to come in if needed; call hours 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Floating is not required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Med-Surg nursing experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)

Shift Details

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
• Two Med-Surg shifts plus one ER night shift weekly

Systems & Equipment

• Medication system: Pyxis
• Documentation system: T-System
• Scrub color: Any

Additional Requirements

• Must have an unexpired government-issued photo ID
• Background checks including SS trace, county searches (last 7 years), nationwide sex offender check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG clearance required prior to start
• Physical exam within last 12 months
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Required immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Annual flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30); no declinations or religious exemptions accepted
• Drug screening within last 12 months
• Professional references: 2 within last 3 years
• Completion of skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
• Colorado state-specific CAPS background check required

Notes

• Return-to-Office (RTO) parameters require manager approval
• Call shifts may be days or nights depending on unit needs
• Candidate must be able to respond within 1 hour for call-ins
• Safety and orientation manuals must be acknowledged prior to start

This position is ideal for RNs comfortable working in both Med-Surg and Emergency Department settings, with flexibility for call and weekend coverage.
