Job Opportunity: Pre/Post Op Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois

Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (06:45 AM – 03:15 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: 5-room orthopedic surgery center with an average daily census of 25 patients
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block scheduling: Accommodation possible
  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
  • Guaranteed hours: Subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, including experience within the last year
  • Pre-Op experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace, Counties, States
    • National Criminal, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • State-specific searches required within 30 days of start:
    • Illinois Department of Corrections Inmate Search
    • Illinois Most Wanted Search (must show all 20 wanted fugitives)
    • Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
  • Fingerprinting: Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry results required for clinical candidates without an IL license; prints must be taken in Illinois 3 business days prior to start
  • Education verification: Initial degree verification required (unofficial or official transcripts accepted if pending)
  • Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
  • Skills checklist and professional references (2) required for clinical candidates

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
  • Fit mask test required (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+); PAPR users exempt from fit test
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start; negative dilute results require retest
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing (color photo, mid-shoulders up, plain background)
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and parking permit forms within 7 days of contract signing (if applicable)
  • Housing review and interview availability must be provided upon submission
  • Candidates may be called off or placed on-call; call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment are allowed without pay
