Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Location: Ronceverte, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical (3rd Floor)
• Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Total Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: ASAP
• Must clock in and out to receive payment
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
• Previously employed permanent staff must wait 2 years before being hired as a traveler

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (AHA) - Provider, Instructor, or RQI accepted
• ACLS (AHA) recommended for certain units (check if applicable)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as required
• Pass/fail testing for medication administration, blood administration, and EKG during orientation
• Annual competency exams

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (acceptable masks: 3M N95 1860, 1860s, Aura 9205+)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within the past 10 years (administered after age 11)
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 3 months of start or negative chest X-ray for positive responders within 5 years plus annual TB questionnaire
• Immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Varicella
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (documentation of vaccination series or positive titer required; declination allowed if series completed and titer negative)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for 2025-26 season; religious or medical exemptions require approval and proper documentation
• COVID vaccination preferred but not required

Additional Notes

• Candidates must submit all required licenses, certifications, and current flu vaccination documentation with their application or they will be rejected
• Facility-specific documents and learning modules must be completed prior to start
• Confidentiality and security agreements, contract staff information records, and vaccination exemption forms may be required
• Candidates requesting vaccine exemptions must complete applicable forms and receive approval before starting
