Infusion Nurse

Job Overview

• Location: Monroe, Michigan
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day, 4x10 hours
• Schedule: Monday-Friday
• Weekend requirement: every six weeks for approximately two hours
• Hours per week: 40
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Setting: Infusion Center, Outpatient oncology
• Patient population: Adults and geriatrics

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Infusion experience with 2 years of experience
• Infusion experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• ONS/ONCC
• Experience in an Outpatient setting
• Oncology experience
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience

• Oncology and non-oncology infusion patients
• Chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusion
• Bone marrow transplant care, including administration of bone marrow, CAR-T, graft-versus-host disease, and stem cell therapies
• Care for bladder/kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, ear/nose/throat, kidney, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, liver, lung, lymphoma/non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, melanoma, multiple myeloma, ovarian/uterine, pancreatic, and prostate cancers
• Chemotherapy administration, monitoring, continuous infusion, IV push administration, body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, and cytotoxic spill management
• IV therapy and infusion skills, including ports, blood and blood products, coagulation factors, central lines, PICC lines, infusion pumps, hydration/multivitamins, antifungals, and antivirals
• Medication administration experience with antibiotics, antiemetics, antitumor agents, corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, and Neupogen
• Oncologic emergency management, including acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and sepsis
• Pain management with IV push narcotics and transdermal patches
• Professional skills in care coordination, ostomy care, Foley catheter management, isolation precautions/PPE, neutropenic precautions, phlebotomy, telephone triage, tracheostomy care, and wound care
• Psychosocial support, advanced directives, and patient/family education
• Symptom management for skin and mucous membrane changes, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, and neuropathy
• Post-surgical care

Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements

• 2 professional references within 2 years of start; at least 1 must be from a leader
• Skills checklist
• Background check, education verification, state-specific search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting requirements
• Physical exam within the last 12 months
• N95 fit test within 12 months of start
• Tdap within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
• MMR immunity or vaccination documentation
• Hepatitis B series, positive titer, or declination
• Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
