ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Marrero, Louisiana

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Marrero, Louisiana
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 48 hours
• Schedule Options: Facility open to 36, 36/48, or 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: None
• Float Requirement: Yes, must float between SCU, NCU, CCU, and ED for critical care admits
• Scrubs: Navy color required

Patient Population & Clinical Environment

• Care for neuro/stroke patients, vascular surgeries, multi-level back surgeries, and general critical care patients
• No CABG or ECMO patients
• Special procedures include fresh post-op craniotomies, ventilator management, arterial lines, central lines, NIH stroke evaluations, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) managed by RN
• Use of specialized equipment: ventilators, external ventricular drains (EVD), intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, lumbar drains, bolts/ICP O2 monitoring, CRRT

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, sex offender, federal checks, and others; must be updated annually
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.)
• Immunizations and screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters if titer low
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 12 months
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted
• Physical exam not required by facility but may be required by placement agency

Additional Notes

• Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
• Must be willing and able to float to multiple critical care units and emergency department as needed
• Navy scrubs required for clinical shifts

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with neuro experience who are comfortable working in a dynamic critical care environment with a variety of complex neurological and vascular patients.
