Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), and Nursery units.
• Float within scope of practice as needed.
• Work schedule: Night shift, either 3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00–7:30).
• Every other weekend required.
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated.
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted).

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Postpartum and Nursery care
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver's License

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, confirming clearance to work without restrictions.
• Negative TB test (Qgold) within 1 year, renewed annually; chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if positive history.
• Proof of immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination within 1 year)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
• Drug testing through specified 9-panel bundle within 30 days of start, with annual updates.
• Fit mask test to be completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated due to facial hair restrictions. Medical or religious exemptions must be submitted on day one.

Background & Verification

• Comprehensive background check including national criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, county searches for last 7 years, and federal exclusions (OIG, SAM, EPLS).
• Education verification required.
• Work history verification covering 7 years, preferably through a third-party vendor.
• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor or higher; Charge RN acceptable for one reference).
• Complete employment application/resume with education and work history.
• Annual skills checklist.

Additional Notes

• Assignment confirmation must be signed within 24 hours of offer.
• Candidates must provide unexpired government-issued photo ID.
• Candidates must complete required facility-specific health attestation forms and upload proof of compliance with immunizations, TB testing, OSHA respirator medical evaluation, and flu vaccine/exemption documentation as applicable.
• Candidates with latex allergies must notify employee health and unit manager upon arrival for accommodations.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
