Job Details
- Position/Specialty: Ambulatory OR CST
- Shift Options:
- 3x12 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
- One late week per 4 weeks to complete cases
- Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
- On-call: No
- Floating: Possible floating within Perioperative facility within scope
- Block Schedule: At manager’s discretion
- Number of ORs: 9
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Locals Accepted: Yes, within 50 miles radius
- Guaranteed Hours: Traveler may be called off up to 10 hours per 2-week period
- Precepting: May be required to precept a care team member in the OR
- Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak in August-September). Confirm availability before accepting assignments during this period.
Required Certifications
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- Radiation badge (must be provided by parent company; required for CST and certain other roles)

- Radiation badge required for CST and other specified roles; process may take 5-7 days before start
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Required Background Checks & Documents
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- State-specific Medicaid excluded provider search
- Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID vaccines not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Competency Exam (general OR competency)
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
- Sterile Processing Techs require additional physical assessment and lab panels (not applicable for CST)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- First-time travelers are not accepted
- Radiation badge processing may delay start; candidates cannot begin floor work without badge
- Travelers must include all requested time off (RTO) at submission for approval
