Job Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Unit: 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
- Patient population includes cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation.
- Scheduling:
- 36 or 48 hours offered
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated/guaranteed
- Maximum 40 hours allowed for time off
- Electronic Medical Record: Must have Epic experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of identity (government-issued photo ID)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification (BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN)
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl) within 2 months of start, updated annually
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no exemptions)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Qgold) or chest X-ray if positive
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody positive titer or antigen negative titer
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer; declination accepted but must be documented)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions)
- Pass/Fail Cardiac Rhythm Assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- Education verification: official transcript required (photocopy of diploma not accepted)
- References: proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluation
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Facility-specific forms including professional appearance guidelines, TB screening, traveler compliance, and fit testing acknowledgment
- Fingerprinting required for behavioral health candidates only (not applicable here)

- Candidates with latex allergy must complete a specific questionnaire.
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing on cardiac rhythms with remediation if needed.
