Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for an Endoscopy unit. The patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics. The role involves working with patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal and pulmonary conditions and performing or assisting with procedures such as ERCP, EGD, Colonoscopy, Bravo, and TIF.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience (1st time travelers not accepted)
• Specialty: Endoscopy RN experience required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) may be required depending on patient population
• Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., NRP, EFM)

Work Environment & Skills

• Patient diagnoses include GI and Pulmonary conditions
• Procedures: ERCP, EGD, Colonoscopy, Bravo, TIF
• Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
• Floating: Possible within facility and scope of practice
• Call Requirements: Weekly and weekend call (call only every 3rd weekend)
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Georgia
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 3 years nursing experience in specialty (Endoscopy)
• Ability to work with adolescent to geriatric patient populations
• Competency in Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems
• Must pass required competency exams including medication test/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG competency (if applicable)
• Must pass color blindness testing or alternative assessment if applicable

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • TB (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months) and TB questionnaire annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or declination (seasonal requirement)
• Background check completed within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification and licensure verification required

Additional Notes

• Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days
• Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• References: 2 clinical references required
• Skills checklist and work history verification required within 12 months
