Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5x8 hour shifts (6:45 AM - 3:15 PM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Job Summary
- Work in a 30-bed Operating Room unit specializing in Pediatric patients (Newborn to 17 years old).
- Responsibilities include both scrub and circulate roles in the OR.
- Some weekday and weekend on-call duties required with a rotating schedule.
- No floating to other facilities.
- Permanent address must be at least 75 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted).
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment as an RN.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience working with Pediatric patients in the OR setting.
- Pediatric OR experience with demonstrated ability to scrub and circulate.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must have worked in a pediatric setting and preferably with women's specialty patients. Robotic surgery experience is a plus.
- Call requirements include some weeknights and weekends on a self-scheduled rotating basis.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory during flu season (October 1 - March 31) unless medically or religiously exempt with proper documentation.
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and no physical limitations.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a full panel of substances.
- Annual fit mask testing required (N95 3M models accepted); accommodations available if needed.
- Must complete required facility-specific orientation and inservice training modules prior to start.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender search, and federal exclusions must be current within 30 days of start.
- Must complete annual skills checklist for specialty.
- No locals accepted; permanent address must be at least 75 miles away.

- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after their last permanent day worked.
