MRI Tech Travel/Contract Job in Columbus, Ohio

Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Patient Population: Neonates to 26 years old, inpatient and outpatient
  • Procedures/Unit Details: Neuro, Body, MSK, Angio, Spect, sedated and non-sedated cases
  • Equipment Used: GE and Siemens 1.5T and 3T scanners, Bayer Injectors, EPIC, Invivo Monitoring, GE PACS
  • Weekend Coverage: Possible 1 weekend shift per contract
  • On-Call: No call required
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Pediatric Experience: Required

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Radiology / Cardiology)
  • References: 2 professional supervisory references required (Charge nurses count as one reference; peer references not accepted)
  • Licensure: Valid Ohio state license for MRI Tech or applicable license for Radiology specialty
  • Education: Verification of highest degree required; official transcript if in-house verification incomplete
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
    • BLS (American Heart Association only)
    • PALS (American Heart Association only)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU RNs
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) as applicable
    • National tech certification verification (e.g., NBRC for RRTs) as applicable
  • Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and other competency exams as applicable with passing scores required

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Photo ID: Current government-issued photo ID required within 24-48 hours of contract signing; legal name must match license and certifications
  • Background Check:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including all counties lived/worked
    • Education verification separate from background check
    • International background check if applicable
    • Alias name clearance required
  • Fingerprinting: Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start and updated for each new contract (code 2151.86)
  • State-Specific Searches: Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Inmate Registry, Medicaid Exemption, and Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start
  • Sex Offender Search: Required within 30 days of start, valid for 4 years unless specialty/unit changes or gap >30 days
  • Drug Screen: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start, including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, methadone, phencyclidine, fentanyl
  • Code of Conduct & Confidentiality Agreement: Must be reviewed and signed prior to documentation due date

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start (not necessarily renewed annually); must state candidate is free of communicable diseases
  • TB Testing:
    • Two PPDs or IGRA (QGOLD/TSPOT) within 12 months
    • For positive results, negative chest x-ray and treatment documentation required
    • TB Questionnaire must be completed prior to start
  • Vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start (after age 11)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no religious exemptions accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, completed 3-dose series, or positive titer required
  • Fit Testing: N95 fit testing required within 1 year of start and updated annually; specific mask models accepted; candidates with beards may be fitted for PAPR/CAPR
  • Masking: Required for candidates with approved flu vaccine exemption during flu season

Additional Requirements

  • Resume/Application: Copy required
  • Skills Checklist: Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
  • Affiliating Health Record: Completed by Quality Management and must match address on driver’s license and employment application exactly
  • Fingerprint Screening Questions: Must be completed prior to start
  • Fit Test Proof: Required if completing fit test onsite; proof of appointment must be provided as placeholder

This position offers a pediatric-focused MRI Tech role with a variety of advanced imaging equipment and procedures, requiring strong pediatric experience and multiple certifications.
