Job Description

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Assess, prepare, and position patients for procedures.
  • Perform conscious sedation and hemodynamic monitoring as necessary.
  • Prepare, implement, and document plan of care.
  • Communicate patient condition to physician before, during, and after procedures.
  • Perform and/or facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures.
  • Set up and provide equipment and supplies before, during, and after procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
    • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes, with chest X-ray if positive
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite).
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.

Testing and Competency

  • Completion of specialty-specific competency exams prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years, including:
    • Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score (max 2 attempts)
    • Core competencies exam covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.
    • EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score (max 2 attempts)
  • Skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Cerner electronic health record test and training checklist with signed attestation prior to assignment.

Additional Requirements

  • Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and contract worker onboarding onsite.
  • Documentation of assignment confirmation and employment verification as required.
  • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Badge photo (optional) with specified background requirements.
