Speech Pathologist - Contract Position

Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide speech and/or language therapy services primarily to a Native American patient population.
  • Treat patients with developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • Work with inpatient and outpatient populations, ages birth through geriatric.
  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results; develop and adjust treatment plans based on physician referrals and patient progress.
  • Document all assessments, treatments, follow-ups, and service terminations in electronic health records.
  • Provide specialty services including swallowing evaluations (Videofluoroscopy, Modified Barium Swallowing, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), cognitive and voice treatments, pediatric speech/language and feeding evaluations, and geriatric and assistive technology clinics.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on speech-language procedures and home programs.
  • Collaborate with physical rehabilitation teams and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement, risk management, safety initiatives, and staff/student training.
  • Maintain medical staff credentialing core privileges.
  • Regular work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (36 hours/week). Weekend services are not available.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in Arizona.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, including experience within the last year.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Additional Information

  • Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
  • COVID and flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted upon submission of a declination form.
  • Housing application must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start date.

Notes

  • This position does not accept Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs).
  • Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
