Overview

Required Qualifications

  • Active BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIH
  • PALS
  • California RN license
  • 2 full years of ER experience

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
  • Open availability required
  • Block scheduling is not allowed
  • PRN schedules are not accommodated
  • This must be the traveler’s primary job

Unit and Patient Care Details

  • Ratios: 1:4, unless ICU patient then 1:2
  • Tele: Phillips
  • Vents: yes
  • RT 24/7: yes
  • Pharmacy 24/7: yes
  • No IV team
  • No cardiac patients
  • OB patients are transferred to the other campus
  • ED sees fewer pediatric patients than the Mercy Southwest campus
  • ED treats correctional patients with an officer present
  • Average daily volume: 100 patients per day

Floating

  • May float between the 2 facilities to the ER
  • May float midshift
  • If floated before shift start, 2 hours’ notice is given
  • First to float

Orientation

  • 2 shifts at the primary campus
