Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Dept RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring a CA RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.
Details
- 18-bed Emergency Department with a fast track area staffed by midlevels and LVNs
- Patient ratios of 1:4, or 1:2 for ICU-level patients
- Evening and night shifts available with mid-shift starts at 1pm
- 12-hour shifts scheduled in 4-week blocks with no block scheduling or PRN accommodations
- Open availability required; this must be the candidate's primary job
- Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri/Sat for nights, Sat/Sun for days)
- Floating may occur between two facilities located 6.5 miles apart, with 2-hour notice if floated prior to shift
- Floor orientation includes 2 shifts at the primary campus and 1 shift at the secondary campus
- Uses Cerner EMR
- Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
- Ventilator management required
- In-house ED physicians available, with RT and Pharmacy coverage 24/7
- No dedicated IV team
- Treats approximately 85-115 patients per day, averaging 100
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- Must be highly teamwork oriented
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a diverse patient population including correctional (CDCR) patients and a higher proportion of homeless and indigent individuals
- Less pediatric volume compared to other area campuses
- No cardiac patients treated on-site; cardiac cases are stabilized and transferred out
- All OB patients are transferred to another campus
- Unit led by a shift manager and resource nurse, with ED techs who are EMTs or aides from other units
- Scrub color is navy blue, including any scrub jacket; undershirts must be navy, white, or black
- Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday
