Pharmacist Job Opportunity

Location: Colebrook, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Position Summary

• Responsible for compounding and dispensing medications in compliance with hospital policy, professional standards, and state and federal regulations.
• Supervises pharmacy technicians, students, and volunteers.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.
• Licensure: Current New Hampshire pharmacy license.
• Certifications: BLS Certification.
• Experience:

  • Prior experience in institutional pharmacy preferred.
  • Working knowledge of intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy, and unit-dose systems preferred.
  • Training and/or experience with pharmaceutical dosages and practices for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients is required.
• Skills:

  • Familiarity with computer applications and willingness to learn new software used in hospital pharmacy operations.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Compound and dispense medications according to regulations and standards.
• Provide clinical pharmacy services within scope of responsibility.
• Maintain compliance with DEA, state pharmacy board, and other regulatory agencies regarding pharmaceuticals.
• Counsel patients on proper medication use.
• Assess patients for risk of neglect or abuse and make referrals as appropriate.
• Review medication orders for required elements related to core diagnoses and contact prescribers if necessary.
• Maintain professional, clinical, and technical skills current.
• Maintain necessary documentation and statistics.
• Ensure adequate supplies of pharmaceuticals and intravenous fluids.
• Exhibit courteous, cooperative behavior and promote a collaborative work environment.
• Serve as a resource within the department for system and resource issues.
