Job Opportunity: Medical-Surgical RN (7CD - Med Surg - Medical Specialty RN)
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum 1 year recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting (250+ beds)
- Minimum 1 year med/surg experience in a busy, large hospital environment
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- ND or compact state RN license
- Level 1 trauma experience
- EPIC electronic medical record experience
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Unit & Patient Population
- 32-bed inpatient Medical-Specialty Unit
- Adult medical/surgical patients, including some with behavioral disturbances
- Private rooms with bathrooms and mobility aids (gait belt/walker)
- Wide variety of med/surg cases
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Practice within full scope of nursing expertise using age and population-specific standards
- Float to all med/surg units across three campuses in Fargo as needed
- Use equipment including EMR (Epic), telemetry, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, Acuivein, and Omnicell
Schedule & Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts, rotating day/night every other weekend and holiday
- Rotation schedules vary: may work 3 weeks days then 3 weeks nights or other patterns depending on unit needs
- Self-scheduling allowed but days off guaranteed only as per contract; shift changes may be required to balance unit needs
- Efforts made to minimize frequent day/night shift flipping
Staffing & Ratios
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 on days, 6:1 on nights
- Must badge in and out at the facility
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Additional Notes
- Travelers living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Floating required to other med/surg units within Fargo
- Candidates who have previously worked for the facility must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to submission
